Members and directors should be aware that this proposed collective agreement may contain errors and omissions that will be corrected in the coming months when the agreement is concluded and printed. Once the printed version is completed, employers are responsible for distributing the registers to employees covered by the HSPBA. The agreement includes improvements in illness, family illness, access to leave and uniform policies. Vancouver (July 13, 2016) – Members of the B.C Health Sciences Association (HSABC/NUPGE) working at West Coast Medical Imaging have voted to adopt the terms of a new collective agreement. Community social services and private sector employees are subject to three separate agreements: an agreement was reached on 29 October 2019 on the terms of the HSPBA pay rates negotiated for the 2019-2022 Health Researchers Collective Agreement. You can find the final salary schedules here. Please note that there are several professional schedules and you must refer to the salary schedule that corresponds to your profession. The health researchers` collective agreement is negotiated between employers and the Health Science Professionals Bargaining Association (HSPBA). It has more than 16,000 members of the HSA as well as members of the Employees Union Hospital (HEU), the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), the Professional Association of Employees (PEA) and the BC Government Employees Union (BCGEU). In the coming months, HSABC/NUPGE and the employer will meet to conclude the collective distribution and implementation agreement. The workload campaign strategy is simple: allow activists to discuss the workload issue with other HSA members. Where they discover that there are excessive workload problems, document them and use the strength of their collective agreement to solve the problem, with possible solutions, including hiring more staff, reorganizing employment and improving health and safety measures.
If you are unsure of the agreement that covers your job, please contact us. All HSA members in the public health sector are covered by one of three main collective agreements: in the summer, HSABC`s organizing and communications leaders have designed a campaign that would involve and strengthen its members. They began to ask their members what their main challenges were as health scientists and community social service employees. HSA represents hundreds of different professions, from social workers to radiotherapists, from pharmacists to early childhood educators. When they launched the survey, it was not clear that their multiple memberships would unite around a challenge. “Members who have never attended a union meeting come to assemblies to be politically active in provincial elections, and they are interested in negotiation. Individual interviews with members who, with the help of a growing team of stewards, were gathered to form a website more dedicated to their union. The following year, the HSA Workload Campaign hired thousands of members. The 2016 HSA convention saw a significant increase in the number of participants, many of them from workload Campaign. And they`ve seen how the workload campaign prepares them for a stronger position in the next round of negotiations: armed with data on workload issues, HSA members can win a stronger contract and make significant changes to their workplace.
The impact of the campaign has been such that the EU has invested more resources in the organisation and engagement of members, including an increase in staff.
